This interactive map is a dynamic and user-friendly tool that provides a visual representation of bidi industry data across different states. Through an intuitive interface, users can explore comprehensive information, including bidi policies, bidi brand details, bidi manufacturers and exporters, Tobacco cultivation areas, Tendu patta cultivation areas, Labor statistics, and Average wages. This digital map facilitates a detailed understanding of the bidi industry's regional landscape, allowing stakeholders, policymakers, and the public to gain valuable insights into the diverse facets of the industry in each state. Users can click on specific states to access in-depth details, fostering transparency, informed decision-making, and a holistic view of the socioeconomic factors associated with the Bidi sector.
The overall purpose of the project will be to map the entire bidi trade in the seven largest bidi producing states, and identify gaps in legal and illicit bidi manufacture, its health and economic burden from patients and health system and patient perspective.
